Projects
Located along the Tar River, Rocky Mount Mills was home to the second oldest and longest continuously running cotton mill in North Carolina. The State Brownfield site consists of approximately 95 acres of industrial, commercial and residential property, including a second mill, formerly occupied by Burlington Industries. The property is being redeveloped into a mixed-use commercial and residential development including a first-of-its-kind craft beer incubator.
From its inception, Atlantic Shores Environmental Services, Ltd. has provided exclusive environmental services for this project. Due diligence services conducted for the project includes Phase I ESAs, wetland delineation, asbestos and lead-based paint surveys of 73 residential and 13 commercial structures. ASE has supervised the abatement of asbestos-containing materials and provided clearance sampling for 36 structures on the property.
Work performed on the site also includes Brownfield consulting services, indoor air quality sampling and analysis, sampling and removal of PCB transformers and light ballasts, impacted soil excavation, underground storage tank (UST) closure services and wetland permitting. ASE continues to provide needed environmental services to this developing project.
